The beach I photographed the most in the Algarve is probably Praia do Amado in Aljezur (Faro District), a wide expanse of sand in shades of caramel and surrounded by craggy hills of burnt sienna and desert greenery. Once we crested the dusty road and reached the vista of this beach, I felt like I came upon some sort of local secret. There are no hotels or shops in this area, just surf schools and a bar. It’s probably not quite this peaceful in peak season, but just wait a few weeks and this is what you’ll get in September.
