Soe is a tiny city nestled in the mountains of West Timor
Dear Luke and Leia,
Apa kabar? (That means, What’s new?) We are in Soe, a small city in the West Timor mountains with beautiful views and cool temperatures. Our drive from Kupang was picturesque and exciting, with so many new sights for Nana and me. We even saw some monkeys along the road and palm trees like those near you. We went to the market and saw many new fruits and vegetables that we must try and people were so talented they can walk around with stacks on their heads without dropping them.
On the way up the mountains we stopped at a quiet beach where we had lunch with Mr. Richard and Ms. Vonce’s family on the back of the car. We saw many children that were your age who have never seen westerners like us. They were very shy and full of giggles just like you, Leia. We won them over by taking pictures of them and then showing them the pictures. It was so cool to see the interaction and innocence of these children.
We will be here for a few days and then will return to Kupang. Afterwards we will be flying to another island named Bali. Nana and I will send you some postcards from there too. Miss you two; be good for your Dad.
Love,
Nana and Pap
