Portuguese is a Language Worth Learning

Portuguese is basically one of the top ten most spoken languages in the world. Nevertheless, its current level has not necessarily reached the intensity of other international language like English or Spanish.  Other known languages like French and Chinese often go to the top of the list.

But does this discredit Portuguese with its value as a language? Certainly not. Even if this language contains fewer speakers compared to other languages, there will always be undeniable reasons why it is worth it to learn the Portuguese language.

Based on statistics, the worldwide influence of Portuguese language is categorized between the fifth to the seventh most common languages in the world. This is due to the language’s usage in the Southern Hemisphere, particular to countries like Brazil, Goa, Macau, Angola, Mozambique, Guinea-Bissau, Cape Verde, Sao Tome, Principe, and of course, the language’s main country Portugal. If we could recall our world history, Portuguese exploration was universal during the 15th century, and Portuguese culture has always been an interesting topic when it pertains to the olden times.

Do you know that Portuguese language is easy to learn? It is in fact one of the easiest languages to learn because it only has 17 irregular verbs compared to French and English.When you get to learn and master the verbs, you can already comprehend and speak the language.

In addition, to learn Portuguese language is easy to relate if you are a natural English speaker. This is due to its relativity to Latin. Most of English vocabulary is derived from Latin, and Portuguese is really very similar with this mother tongue. If you are a Spanish or Italian speaker, learning Portuguese is not difficult to relate as well. French speakers will also have an easy time coping up with Portuguese. They all sum up to one common language, and it is Latin.

It is said that Brazilian Portuguese have an easier-to-find courses compared to European Portuguese. Nevertheless, whatever suits your choice then go for it. Various communities in Brazilian and European boundaries have community courses and books available. If you find traveling abroad as an appropriate option then it would be a great opportunity to step out from your own country and explore the countries that Portuguese is being spoken.

There are lots of prospects a learner can choose in learning Portuguese. It is just up to them which of these prospects are suitable to them. And it will always be up to you as well.
