Port Askaig 110 Proof Islay Whisky Review

By Boozedancing @boozedancing

Ready for another trip to Islay? We sure are! This time around we're tasting the Port Askaig 110 Proof from Elixir Distillers and their master blender, Oliver Chilton.

We've had a few Pprt Askaig expressions over the years have enjoyed each and every one of them. We were particularly excited to try their 110 proof version because, as regular viewers know, we like whisky with a 5 in it. This one has two 5's (55% ABV), so that ups the excitement factor even more.

But before we get to the tasting, here's what Elixir Distillers has to say about the Port Askaig 110 Proof:

Exclusive to the USA, Port Askaig 110° Proof is one of our core offerings: a small-batch bottling created to show a more elegant, approachable style of Islay single malt. Matured in American oak and bottled at 55%, it displays superbly balanced flavours of smoke and sweetness, with the higher strength giving it extraordinary depth.
