Porsche and Heath Ceramics Talk Timeless Design in a New Video

By Dwell @dwell

Porsche visits the studio of legendary American maker Heath Ceramics to discuss what makes its pottery so enduring. Watch a video with owners Catherine Bailey and Robin Petravic to see how Heath continues its commitment to "good design that works its way into your life" nearly seven decades after opening its doors.

Heath Ceramics occupies a special place in the minds of American design enthusiasts-and not just because it's one of the few midcentury potteries still firing. Founded in 1948 and revived in 2003, the San Francisco-based company crafts textural ceramics that efface the distance between maker and consumer. Owners Catherine Bailey and Robin Petravic have extended rather than adapted Heath's legacy for the 21st-century, because they understand good design is timeless.

As part of their "Powered by Design" series, Porsche visits Bailey and Petravic at their studio in the Mission District to discuss the intersection of craftsmanship and innovation. The new Porsche Cayenne E-Hybrid, a plug-in hybrid capable of being driven exclusively by an electric motor, shares their commitment to achieving high-performance through classic design.
