Good news from Burma: The Irrawaddy writes that the Myanmar government has returned the licences of leading lawyers who had been barred from practicing for political reasons.
Aung Thein, a former Supreme Court advocate and one of Burma’s most prominent human rights lawyers, has had his license returned after it was revoked for nearly three years.
“I heard 14 out of 25 activist lawyers including myself have had licenses restored,”
A small, but meaningful move towards greater freedom.
