Half-three. Mum’s at bingo
So the house is quiet. Joss is asleep
With his hand covering his face
From the light or from view.
The clock ticks either side of his breathing.

I chose to this the ‘a book written by someone with the same initials’ category of my Popsugar Reading Challenge 2015.
I loved every poem in this collection. Sansom’s poems are the kind of poems I love to read and the style and subject matter is similar to poems I write myself. Every line was sheer pleasure. Each poem was like a miniature little story. I loved the descriptions, language and use of imagery. My personal favourites were House, Funeral Morning, Bliss, Death Cap, Words For Paul Cézanne and My Mother On A Seat Outside A Hospital.
