Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on the phone on Friday evening and praised the state government’s steps in preventing Covid-19 from spreading. Sources close to the Chief Minister gave this information. Sources said that during the talks, Modi also took stock of the current situation in the state.
He said that the Prime Minister praised the steps taken by the Trinamool Congress government to help the citizens during the lockdown. According to sources, the talks between the two leaders lasted for about ten minutes.
Sources said after the Prime Minister, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Foreign Minister S Jaishankar also spoke to Mamata Banerjee and inquired about the state of the state.
According to a West Bengal government official, the central government has sent ten thousand test kits to check for corono virus infection. The kit is sourced from the National Institute of Virology. It is housed in the Virology Lab of the National Institute of Cholera and Enteric Diseases (NICED) on Friday.
