PM Modi Meets Afghan Sikh-Hindu Delegation, Tells Them ‘India is Your Home’

New Delhi, February 19: Sikh and Hindu delegates from Afghanistan meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his residence here on Saturday and thank him for presenting the citizenship amendment law (CAA) and standing for them in times of distress.

Welcoming delegates, Modi’s Prime Minister said they were not guests, but India was their home.

The meeting came a day after the Prime Minister Modi hosted a number of prominent Sikh at his residence, and a day before the polls of the Punjab.

The Prime Minister Modi talked about the extraordinary difficulties faced by Hinduism and Sikh in Afghanistan and assistance provided by the government to take them to India safely, a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s office.

In this light, he also talked about the importance of the citizenship amendment law (CAA) and his benefits for the community, said the statement.

Minister Pime Modi convinced them about future sustainable support to solve all problems and overcome the difficulties faced by them.

The Prime Minister also talked about the importance of tradition to honor Master Granth Sahib, considering which special settings were made to bring the ‘Swaroop’ Granth Sahib teacher from Afghanistan.

Modi also talked about the great love he had received from Afghanistan for years and lovingly considered his visit to Kabul, according to the statement.

BJP Manjinder Singh Sire, who was present on the occasion, thanked the Prime Minister to send assistance from India for bringing back community members safely, and said that when no one stood with them, the Prime Minister ensured constant support and the right assistance time. .

Praising Modi, a member of the delegation said he was not only the Indian Prime Minister, but “the Prime Minister of the World” when he understood the difficulties faced mainly by Hindu and Sikh throughout the world and made all efforts to provide assistance immediately all cases like that.

Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri and the State Union Minister Meenakashi Lekhi was also present on that occasion.

Delegation members presented PM with Afghani traditional clothing and headgear, which he was wearing and commented that former Afghan President Hamid Karzai would be very happy to see him in the clothes.

A large number of Hindu Afghanistan and Sikh have lived in India, and the Indian government recently evacuated many of them after the takeover of the Afghan Taliban.

The Modi government often emphasized its commitment to the Afghan minority facing religious persecution, especially from the Taliban.

CAA, which facilitates the provinction of Indian citizenship for non-Muslim minorities persecuted in Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan, authorized by parliament on December 11, 2019 and the presidential nod is accepted the following day.

Meanwhile, Afghan Ambassador here, Farid Mamundzay, thanked Prime Minister Modi for wearing “Chapan and Afghanistan Lungi” which he said was an inseparable part of their identity.

“Style is a way to connect with the mass and respect for cultural diversity without saying a lot. Cultural diversity brings collective strength and benefit all humanity,” he said in a series of tweets in Hindi.
