On Thursday, PleasrDAO said that the next episode of PleasrHouse will be all about the doge. On February 7, 2023, PleasrHouse will start a 24-hour NFT auction for the couch from the original doge meme. The winner will get to keep the couch.
NFTs about oddities and other interesting things are not new. In January 2023, 10,000 pixelated feet were the most popular thing on OpenSea. When it first came out, Feetpix (or Feetpix.wtf) briefly passed Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) and other well-known NFT collections to become the 5th most-traded collection on the NFT market.
The PleasrHouse episode will air live on February 8 at 7:30 p.m. ET. The original photographer, Atsuko Sato, and the Shiba Inu from the renowned internet meme, Kabosu, will be there as guests. The episode will also have an Open Edition NFT drop, which the group says will honor Kabosu even more and support charity organizations.
Tridog, a member of PleasrDAO and the leader of the Own the Doge community, said in a statement that the idea to auction the couch came when 17-year-old Kabosu became ill in January 2023 and the group banded together to help pay Atsuko/Kabosu medical bills.
PleasrDAO says that the couch in the 2010 photo of Kabosu will be sold at the auction. The person who wins the auction will receive an NFT right away, which gives them the right to get the real couch from Sato. Eberle says that people who aren’t ready to bid on the couch in its entirety can still own a piece of the meme through Own The Doge’s fractionalized photo.

PleasrDAO was developed in March 2021 to purchase an NFT by the best known digital artist Emily “pplpleasr” Yang. It was named after her. In January, PleasrDAO launched PleasrHouse to go along with the release of an Ethereum NFT by Edward Snowden and Daniel Ellsberg, who were both known for leaking information.

The money raised went to the Freedom of the Press Foundation and the Daniel Ellsberg Initiative for Peace and Democracy.
“Episode 01 of PleasrHouse was a success,” Chris Eberle, Head of Marketing for PleasrDAO, told Decrypt. “Feedback on the product, the content, and the caliber of our guests was overwhelmingly positive, and we know crypto Twitter will tell you when they don’t like something.”
Eberle said the organization would have loved to generate more to help the Freedom of the Press Foundation and the Daniel Ellsberg Initiative for Peace and Democracy, but the Ellsberg piece was sold for around $24,112 or 14.69 ETH.
What is the group’s purpose?
Eberle claims that PleasrDAO purchased the original Doge photo from Sato in a 2021 NFT auction for 1,696.9 ETH, approximately $4.8 million at the time.
Since purchasing the image and fractionalizing it, according to PleasrDAO, a partnership has formed between Own The Doge and Sato to raise funds for her favorite animal and children’s organizations. According to the group, the future couch auction will continue this aim.
“When we fractionalized the NFT, we started the Own The Doge (OTD) community, who has developed a very strong relationship with Atsuko,” Eberle said. “The Do Only Good Everyday ethos from dogecoiners really resonates with Atsuko, and the OTD community has donated $2M+ to charities. $1M of those donations went to Save The Children, and is their largest crypto donation to date.”
