Sony just announced its much-rumored next video game console, the PlayStation 4. Sony Computer Entertainment CEO Andrew House announced the console with little more than a logo and a handful of concepts. The machine has Supercharged PC Architecture, X86 CPU, 8Gb ram, 8CPU Cores, nearly 2 teraflops of computational performance and 176 Gb bandwidth.
Also, Sony’s now made its next-generation DualShock 4 controller official at tonight’s PlayStation 4 event in NYC. The company’s Mark Cerny revealed a controller with slightly rubberized grip and “enhanced rumble capabilities.” There’s also a touchpad, a headphone jack, that long-rumored share button, a light bar to the rear, which helps identify players and a stereo camera which is used to track the 3D position of the controller.
More will follow…
