Play YouTube In Background On MIUI 11/MIUI 12 [No App Required]

Xiaomi's Android skin, MIUI, comes with a lot of cool features, but many aren't initial. Therefore, we have previously compiled a list of the hidden features available in the MIUI 11.

However, that was a long time ago, and MIUI has come a long way since then. Now the city is talking about Xiaomi's next big update on its Android skin - MIUI 12. Among the many features of MIUI 12, the one that is not talked about enough is the Video Toolbox of MIUI 12.

For those who don't know, Video Toolbox in MIUI is a small floating window that allows quick access to handy tools while watching video on Xiaomi device. It offers shortcuts for recording, taking a screenshot, and broadcasting the screen. It also has shortcuts to quickly open apps like Notes, Browser, Messenger, etc.

However, one option of the MIUI Video Toolkit that is extremely useful is something called "Play Video Sound With Screen Off". As the name suggests, tap it to play videos on supported apps when the screen is off. Fortunately, YouTube supports this cool feature in the Mi Video Toolkit.

How to listen to YouTube videos with the screen off on Xiaomi devices?

• Go to your Xiaomi device settings> Special functions> Video toolkit
  
• Activate the option "Video toolbox" and the option "Video toolbox shortcut"
  
• Tap "Manage video apps" and select YouTube or any other video app
  
• Open a video on the YouTube app
• You will now see a small shortcut on the side of your screen
• Slide the shortcut in the opposite direction and tap "Play audio from video with screen off"

You will now be able to play the YouTube video in the background when the screen is off. The Video Toolbox shortcut can be configured to appear left or right in its settings. The hidden function of MIUI 12 is a great help when you want to listen to music on YouTube.
