Play that song one last time…

It’s funny & strange how we grow fondness for inanimate objects. Things become more than just objects & we invest our own memories in bringing them to life.

A few days back my trusty old iPod, that was once a shiny piece of plastic and metal, started showing signs of ageing & sickness. It wasn’t crying for help but I could see that it’s light was slowly fading. It’s music was coming to an end. A little thin line that appeared on it’s screen has be since growing like a cancer. I know it’s time and just like that, it’ll play that song one last time…

We’ve grown together, travelled together—from place to place, from one playlist to another. These 7 years of togetherness have brought around 6 thousand songs and countless memories that have come to define life moments. There were victory songs, songs of love, songs for celebration and songs that helped heal wounds. There was the carelessness of early youth and also a deeper understanding brought by those very fleeting moments. There was “Achy Breaky Heart” and then there was “A Satisfied Mind”. From the carelessness Truckin’ to the mindfulness of Eckhart Tolle, I’ve come to discover that life isn’t a single note, it’s an orchestra of so many different instruments playing together and harmony is achieved only when every little sound is in tune.

So here’s to music and life. I’m not sure if life comes to an end one day but maybe the music keeps playing, maybe just one more time…
