Artist Walter Crane in Kensington…
#plaque366 Walter Crane
Artist and book illustrator, Walter Crane was part of the Arts and Crafts movement and produced a wide variety of paintings, illustrations, children's books and ceramics.
The founding principles of the Arts and Crafts movement, a global school of art that flourished from the 1880’s to the immediate pre-WWI period, favoured a strong back-to-basics approach in terms of influence (they were often inspired by medieval decorative work) and use of traditional materials. Its influence stretched into the fields of architecture, domestic design and the decorative arts.

A London Walk costs £10 – £8 concession. To join a London Walk, simply meet your guide at the designated tube station at the appointed time. Details of all London Walks can be found at www.walks.com.
