A Two-For-One! Sir Thomas Beecham was the leading British conductor of the first half of the 20th Century.
Thomas J Barratt's The Annals of Hampstead was published in 1912, but he is also famed as the father of modern advertising. His use of memorable images and slogans in advertising Pears' Soap (in which he was a partner with his father-in-law) is considered to be groundbreaking. He even went to the length of acquiring a work by John Everett Millais to use in an advertisement.
