Rock and Roll is Here to Stay! Commemorating The Two I’s Coffee Bar on Old Compton Street W1
As The Cavern is to Liverpool, so the Two I’s Coffee Bar is to London. Billed, quite rightly, as The Birthplace of British Rock’n’Roll, the Two I’s Coffee Bar rode the skiffle boom of the late 1950s, providing a stage for the fledgling rockers of the day.
The list of stars “discovered” here reads like a who’s who of pre-Beatles music: Tommy Steele, Cliff Richard, Hank Marvin (of the Shadows), Wee Willie Harris, Joe Brown, Screaming Lord Sutch and Tony Sheridan – who was backed by The Beatles on the fabled Polydor recording of My Bonnie, cut in Hamburg.

With the launch of The Rolling Stones Walk on the 5th May 2016 and the return of the Rock'n'Roll London Pub walk on Wednesday nights from the 4th May 2016 the London Walks summer programme 2016 will feature no less than FIVE regular musical-themed walking tours.
