The first home of the Metropolitan Police…
Scotland Yard has become a byword the world over for London’s finest, The Metropolitan Police.
The Met’s shiny 1960’s HQ is now over at St James's (they moved in 1967 and are due to move again soon), while their second home is now known as the Norman Shaw building by the Houses of Parliament (from 1890). The plaque pictured commemorates the site of the original Scotland Yard, which stood from 1829 – 1890.
