Freed slave Bill Richmond, entrepreneur and welterweight boxer, was an African American who spent much of his adult life in London. In later life he became friends with is former boxing rival Tom Cribb - his plaque can be found on the Tom Cribb pub in Panton Street. He died at the age of 66.
