Bobby Moore is the only England captain ever to lift the World Cup. In 1966 he lead England to a famous 4-2 victory over West Germany. During that golden mid-60s period, Moore never seemed to be away from Wembley. Not only did he lift the World Cup there, but also the F.A Cup and the European Cup Winners' Cup with his club West Ham United.
His plaque can be found on The Boleyn Ground – commonly known as Upton Park – the current home of West Ham United F.C. In August 2016, West Ham will take up residence in the Olympic Stadium – which still gives you plenty of time to nip along to Upton Park of a Saturday afternoon – or, better still, for an evening game – to savour one of the most atmospheric old grounds in the UK.
