The autumn delivery from Plant Me Now has recently arrived. With the garden still in full exuberant flower, there’s no space in borders or containers to plant them out, but this doesn’t matter because I much prefer to pot them on so that they can put on some more growth before they go to their permanent positions. I’ve got white cyclamen, purple bicolour wallflowers and blue and white violas for the winter display around the front door, with bronze wallflowers, apricot violas and gold lace primula for around the kitchen door in the courtyard where I will also be planting tulips in similar shades. I will be interested to see how the wallflowers do – I generally buy bareroot, but any delay in planting them out seems to result in leggy plants – this may well be the solution.
