(Kiev) Ukrainian diplomacy welcomed on Monday the analysis in France of the black boxes of the Ukrainian Boeing shot down in January by Iran, believing that this work, which must start on 20 July, would be a guarantee of objectivity.

“It is practically an ideal situation” because the results of these analyzes cannot be considered as biased by Iran, the Ukrainian Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs, Ievgueni Ienine, told a small group of media including AFP.

He confirmed that this work would start on 20 July, specifying that it could take up to five days, or even “one or two” depending the level of complexity.

“We are aware” that the decryption may prove unsuccessful due to the poor condition of the black boxes, said the official. He announced that Ukraine will send two of its experts to France to assist in the operation.

At the end of June, after many hesitations, Iran ended up asking the French Bureau of Investigation and Analysis (BEA) to repair and download the data from the Boeing black boxes.

The “Cockpit Voice Recorder” (CVR), which records the conversations between pilots and the noises on the plane, and the “Flight Data Recorder” (FDR), which records all the flight parameters (speed, altitude , engine speed, trajectory, etc.), must be conveyed to the BEA, near Paris, according to the French organization.

The Iranian armed forces acknowledged on 11 January that they had “accidentally” shot down the Boeing aircraft operating the PS flight three days earlier 752 of Ukraine International Airlines between Tehran and Kiev, shortly after takeoff from Tehran International Airport.

The drama claimed the lives of the 176 people on board the aircraft, mostly Iranians and Canadians, as well as the 11 Ukrainian team members.
