Plan the Bathroom You’ve Always Dreamt Of

By Kravelv

A bathroom should be a place where you can escape to soak your worries away. Planning a new bathroom layout and design takes a lot of hard work, but the results will be worth it. Here’s how you can plan a bathroom where you will want to spend all of your free time.

Design ideas

What you want from a bathroom will be vastly different from your neighbor. When designing your space, always keep your personal taste in mind. After all, the bathroom needs to match your style if you want to appreciate it fully.

Before beginning, take into account the purpose of the bathroom. Is it a family bathroom or your private loo? If you have a family bathroom, you need to include enough storage to hold toiletries and towels. Storage cupboards on the walls will ensure you have a place for everything.

You should also decide if you want a bath, shower, or both. There’s no reason to include a standalone shower if you’ll never use it. If you have a limited amount of space, a bath that also includes a shower is perfect.

Never overlook flooring. The type of tile you lay will significantly affect the entire look of the room. Almost any kind of tile will work as long as it’s waterproof and doesn’t get too slippery. Marble and granite are popular options, but wood-effect laminate and tiled vinyl also look beautiful. For a room that’s comfortable during hard British winters, underfloor heating is a must-have splurge.

Planning on a budget

If you don’t have an endless supply of money, you need to always have your budget in mind. It’s easy to go overboard and spend more than you planned. However, it’s relatively simple to design a beautiful kitchen on a budget.

Before you begin anything, know how much you want to spend. Put this in writing. Consider everything you want out of your kitchen and make a list. It’s best to plan your new design around your current layout. Knocking down walls and moving pipes will cost a lot more.

If your basin and bath are still in decent condition, you can make them look brand new by replacing just the taps. For a luxurious feel, consider adding waterfall taps in your bathroom.

However, if you must replace the basin or toilet, a floor-mounted model will save you money. Models that mount to the wall cost more to install. However, floor-mounted basins and toilets do take up more room. If you have a small bathroom, consider looking for a compact style.

Quick and easy is also more affordable

If you don’t have a hefty budget, keep your bathroom design simple. A few cosmetic changes will greatly improve the aesthetic of the room without costing too much. Consider changing cabinet doors, hardware, or even replacing the towels.

Look around the room to determine which pieces you can replace without spending a lot of money. You may even have enough money to redo your bathroom each season. Updating the color scheme with a fresh coat of paint is another money-saving idea. Adding some decorative touches will instantly change the look of the entire bathroom.
