The other week it was actually pretty sunny and it felt like Spring had finally arrived. As a little treat, Andrew took me to Lickety Split, an ice cream parlour that's not too far away. We'd both heard good things but had never been, so it seemed like a perfect way to spend an afternoon.
We got there around half 3/4pm and there was a bit of a queue inside. Ideally, we should have gone a little earlier to avoid the school ending rush that happens between 3 and 4pm, but I just couldn't find something to wear. You know what it's like! If anything, the queue gave me some time to pick the sundae I wanted and believe me, you need time to think about it since there's so many to choose from. I really like the 1950's American Diner feel Lickety Split has, in fact it was the first American themed ice cream parlour in the North East. Unfortunately, since it was busy I didn't get any photos of the jukebox and the decor on the walls, but I do have a little treat at the end of this post if you're as big a fan of VW campervans as I am!I opted for the Warm Apple Crumble which was so yummy, pieces of warm apple and crumbled up digestives amidst masses of vanilla and cinammon dairy ice cream, topped with whipped cream. Amazing! Andrew picked Truly Toffee and devoured it pretty quickly, so I'm guessing it was equally tasty. He did mention there were daim bar pieces and seemed quite impressed.Although Lickety Split are pretty well known for their ice cream, they also offer other treats, paninis and sandwiches and the one I want to try next time we go; hot dawgs (yes, that's the way they're written on the menu and I will be making an awful attempt of some type of American accent when I order! I don't know who'll be more embarrassed, the staff or me! haha) One of the iconic things about Lickety Split, is their little VW campervan. Very vintage and they're got their branding down to a tee, even that registration plate! It's definitely a good way to spot where the parlour is as it stands out pretty well on the coast road!
