Ingredients:
8 oz (about 2 cups) of your favorite pasta (penne or rotini work well)
1 lb ground Italian sausage or ground beef
1 small onion, diced
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 bell pepper, diced
1 cup sliced mushrooms (optional)
1 can (15 oz) pizza sauce
1 can (14 oz) diced tomatoes, drained
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1 teaspoon dried basil
Salt and pepper to taste
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Your favorite pizza toppings (pepperoni, olives, etc.)
Instructions:
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
Cook the Pasta:
Cook the pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
Cook the Meat and Vegetables:
In a large skillet, cook the ground sausage or beef over medium heat until browned.
Add diced onions, minced garlic, bell pepper, and mushrooms. Cook until the vegetables are softened.
Combine Sauce and Seasonings:
Add the pizza sauce, diced tomatoes, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper to the skillet. Stir well to combine. Let it simmer for a few minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
