A similar issue was raised by a few Pixel 4XL users on Reddit. There are reports that users did not notice the battery swelling until their phone opened. Swollen batteries are a cause for concern as your phone may be exposed to fire.
Over seventy Pixel users have responded to the Pixel 3 battery issue thread on Google's forum. They range from skipped backs to disabled wireless charging. Users have posted photos of their damaged pixel devices to the forum, alluding to the extent of the damage.
This is not the first time that the Pixel 3 series devices have encountered issues. In the past, users have complained about poor call quality, sound issues, and black screen issues on Google Pixel 3 and 3 XL.
Wireless charging accelerates the problem
There are several wire answers referring to wireless charging issues on the Pixel 3 and 3 XL. In many cases, the swollen battery protruding slightly from the back disabled wireless charging. Meanwhile, some have claimed that wireless charging accelerates the deterioration of battery condition. Users are also posting devices that slide off the Pixel Stand.
Many users said that they didn't notice the swollen battery because of the rear covers. There is also a theory that phones that have never been charged wirelessly work fine. With more people reporting the issue, some Pixel users on the forum also appeared concerned about their devices' future performance.
Google offer replacements
It's been two years since the Pixel 3 hit the market. After the Pixel 4 launched, Google discontinued the Pixel 3 and most units sold are now out of warranty.
Some users say that Google offers a one-time replacement, although their devices are out of warranty.
