My Little Empire Records signing Pip Hall has unveiled a stream of ‘The Perfect Life’ ahead of the release of her debut album on 9 November.
Fitting alongside acts like Jade Bird, Lucy Rose and Luke Sital-Singh, this subtly powerful song is full of elegant harmonies and striking bursts of guitar as Preston native Pip looks back over the controlling treatment of her by others with regret: ‘6 foot 2 and I’m walking with you I’ll catch my breath when you tell me to, And all my efforts and all my time were wasted on you with the perfect life’ before’. Towards the end, she becomes fiercely defiant: ‘Now I’m breaking from the cycle ‘cause I’ll make it all on my own, I won’t break my pride and I won’t waste your time anymore’, all while retaining her
