Lettuce & Co styled this gorgeous modern Pinocchio inspired 1st birthday party. As told by Robyn and Lisa "Theming this event was easy as we wanted to create a fun, bright and cute setting using a classic character that even the adults could relate to. It all started with a small Pinocchio wooden puppet - the one you see on the cake. He came with us everywhere. To showcase such an old story for this century we felt a minimalist approach to color would work best. So we went with white, which we used across our table and food platters. Bright colours from Pinocchio's costume such as red from his shorts, yellow from his vest and blue from the bow and the pine wood since Pinocchio is a puppet after all and made from wood. When styling an event, we like to tell a story. We want the guests to feel that they are part of this story. The first thing we did before putting this event together was we read the pinocchio book and watched the Disney movie for inspiration. We set up little 'scenarios' with a focus on famous quotes from the Pinocchio story - a little workshop for the little kids to play around and get crafty, a setting for the birthday boy to play the role of pinocchio wearing a hat hand made with love by us girls. Wooden puppet Pinocchio (marionette style) set in cages formed part of our table setting and we brought in some key characters/items that weren't the obvious such as the whale (monstro), apples and Pinocchio's hat. We designed and put the party bags together ourselves, again inspired by Pinocchio's costume, filling them with delicious healthy treats and crafty items. Those chocolate dipped pretzels too were another 'made with love' item by lettuce & co. Amazingly delicious!!
Noone can look passed the cake and sweets! We approached our two favorite cake/sweet makers (we call them artists) with our concept and designs and sure enough, they delivered! They didn't just look incredible but they tasted amazing. The cake, a white chocolate mud with REAL raspberries and we had a selection of Sweet Empire's mouth watering sweets. From Mascarpone Vanilla Bean Mini Baked Cheesecakes to Salted Caramel Tartlets with Chocolate Ganache, Flourless Chocolate & Frangelico Mini Cakes, Moist Banana and Fresh Coconut Cupcakes to Passion Fruit & White Chocolate Macarons. And the now infamous Pinocchio Cake Pops "Pinocopops". Simply AMAZING! We can't thank Lori from Lajari for all the brilliant stationery, Lisa from Cakes& Biscuits by Lisa for the show stopping cake and cookies and Catherine from Sweet Empire for her mouthwatering sweets and jaw dropping pinocchio cake pops. We just loved working with these incredibly talented women and look forward to the next chance to work together. lettuce & co - style. eat.play www.lettuceandco.com.au
