Hudson River Park ‘Pier 45′, New York, USA – Trees Planted on Pier
Pier 45 is located on the Manhattan shore of the Hudson River and is another of the completed Hudson River Park projects. Similar in nature to Pier 46, Pier 45 is a linear park, jutting out into the Hudson River and is about twice the length of Pier 46.

At each end of the pier a grove of trees has been planted, under which bench seating has been placed. The groves are planted at a slightly raised level so as to allow for a suitable depth of topsoil to enable these trees to thrive. Adjacent to the grove of trees, at the shore end, a large canopy has been constructed and provides shelter from sun and rain.

To each long edge of the pier a promenade forms the pier edge. The north promenade constructed using paving paving slabs, the south is wooden deck. Between the two promenades a grass lawn allows for sun worshiping and play.

For a significant portion of the serpentine interface between the north promenade and the lawn wooden topped concrete benches have been constructed.
