Pictures that tell stories singly, or when joined one to the other . . . . What stories, I ask myself, does this congeries of pictures tell me on this day in early September when hot summer beings to turn to cooler fall in my part of the world? Or is there any narrative that ties things together in such neat bundles?
Perhaps the charge of maintaining humanity is to keep asking that question.
