Picture Perfect Waterfalls Across America – A Photo Essay

By Kenin Bassart @Constantramble

While traveling, there are a few things that I will absolutely make an unscheduled stop to see. Waterfalls are close to the top of the list. There is just something about the sound of water in motion that brings me in touch with mother-nature. The combination of beautiful scenery and the cleansing nature of water is a very strong draw for me. Here are a few pictures of my favorite waterfalls from across North America.

The Elk River Waterfalls

Water has a very calming effect on me. I love oceans, lakes, rivers, but my all-time favorite bodies of water are waterfalls. I find them mesmerizing. It may be because I’m a water sign, if you believe in all that astrology stuff.

There is nothing better than taking a hike, then sitting and watching the water rushing down the rocks. It has the ability to give you a sense of place and perspective in the world.

One of the most majestic things I have ever seen was water frozen on the face of a waterfall as the rest of the water flowed behind the ice. In the hard winter months, adventurers will actually ice-climb these for sport.
