Picnic Strawberry Orange Ice Cream

By Ally @allykitchen

Sometimes the name of something just speaks volumes. And, I think that's the case with this 'picnic strawberry orange ice cream'. It's fun. It's sassy. It's creamy. It's velvety. It's sweet and citruseee. And, the picnic can be on your high-rise condo deck, your back yard, your patio, your coffee table. Basically, wherever your sweet pea pickin' littl' heart desires.

Now I love to do things the old fashioned way. When I make bread. I do it the old fashioned way. I knead and knead and knead it. There's just something for me about the tactile infusion of my 'energy' into that bread that supersedes the convenience of a bread maker. And, it's the same with this ice cream. I don't own an ice cream maker. Wouldn't be adverse to having one, but I'm not going to buy one. Maybe a gift? Of course, I'm thinking, where in the devil would I store it?

You don't need an ice cream making gizmo to make knock your socks off ice cream. A hand mixer will do. And, then you do your freezer magic! This ice cream has both frozen, but like fresh, and fresh, as in fresh, strawberries and orange in it. I love the combination of the citrus and the sweetness of the berries. Plus, it's just a vintage like gorgeee color. The texture sings happy with the specks of orange zest. And then you get a bite and chunk of strawberry in most every bite.

But, what makes all the strawberry goodness and flavor are the Dole Sunshine products I used. Yep, three of them as you'll see as you scroll down and read the recipe. If you've never tried the Dole Shakers, you're in for a treat. And, they were just the yogurteeee goodness that added to this ice cream. So surprise your friends and family with you new frosty kitchen skills. Ice cream making! And, get creative with how you want to freeze it. I used the vintage glass baking dish. Why not a vintage ice cube tray. Individual ramekin cups. Vintage wide mouthed small individual serving jars. Cupcake holders in a cupcake pan. Think outside the ice cream container! xoxo ~peace & cream~ ally
