Before staying in Picaddle Hotel Mahabaleshwar, I had decided that I will write a blog on it because it is a 3-star hotel and claims to be a luxury boutique resort.
However, after my nightmarish experience over here, I was confused about whether I should pen it down or not. Then I thought, it’s better to share it. It will help travellers and the hotel owner to rectify & improve their resorts.
I will not go into much in detail about the property but in brief.
Why we selected Picaddle Hotel Mahabaleshwar?
We were searching for mid-budget hotels in Mahabaleshwar just a few days before our trip. Hence, most of the hotels were already booked.
Out of a few available hotels, we selected Picaddle Hotel Mahabaleshwar because:
- It looked great with modern facilities.
- Location is good
- Near to Mahabaleshwar city center- just 1.7km
- Reviews were fine
- Within our budget

Picaddle Hotel Mahabaleshwar Standard & Premium Rooms
We had booked 2 standard rooms for 1 night. However, one room was complimentary and upgraded to a Premium room.
Rooms: I was staying in a standard room. The room was fine with basic amenities like TV, cupboards, wifi, and AC.
The premium room where my relatives were staying was spacious and modern. But there was no window view. Anyways, we were there only for a night, so didn’t matter much.
Bathroom: It was clean and had the toiletries. The LED lighting in the mirror looked impressive.
The only disappointing part was the bathroom jet spray which was attached quite far making it difficult to use.
After getting fresh, we decided to have tea, so when I went to prepare it, I suddenly saw a cockroach roaming around the tea table area. Now, what the hell is this? Cockroach? In a 3-star hotel?
Now before you imagine that ‘jenie’ must have screamed after seeing it, let me tell you I hadn’t because I don’t have a fear of cockroaches (albeit if my sister had seen, she definitely would have)
The next thing we did was to call reception & informed them. The hotel staff came and cleaned/removed/killed it.
This was really shocking for me because, in so many years of travel, I had never seen a cockroach in a room esp in a 3-star hotel.
I would have let it go and not mentioned it on my blog, but the cockroach was found in a premium room too where my relative was staying.
Now, what can we say? When I found it in my room, I thought ‘To err is human” but when it was found in another room then they are surely at fault for carelessness and recklessness.
Parking at Picaddle Hotel Mahabaleshwar
The hotel doesn’t have enough space for the parking area and if you are travelling during the holiday season or weekend, it can be an issue.
We had to park our car at some other place.

Our room tariff included breakfast. They have a dining area where we can enjoy our meals.
I must say their ‘breakfast menu’ was impressive and delectable. The food was so delicious that I got engrossed in eating and forgot to click some photos.
Just for breakfast, I may visit here again.
Final Verdict
When you are in the service industry esp the hospitality industry you can’t afford to make a mistake such as negligence in cleanliness and pest control.
I would have neglected it if the ‘cockroach’ was found in my room only. But it was found in a premium room too. I hope the hotel staff and owner rectify their mistakes and make sure such things don’t happen again in the future with any guests.
My experience was a letdown in this luxury boutique resort.
