Think tulips and the mind immediately thinks of Amsterdam and the gorgeous Keukenhof gardens, the latter is a place that I am yet to visit. Viewing beds of tulips meticulously cultivated in gardens has always been my dream and when I heard about the Tulip festival in Morges in Switzerland, I could not be happier. The picture of colourful tulips dancing amidst the greenery and basking in the sunlight is indeed a sight to behold.
Known as the “Fête de la Tulipe”, the tulip festival is an annual affair and it was started in 1971. The venue for the festival is the Parc de l’Indépendance in Morges. The festival was held this year from the beginning of April to 14-May and was literally a spring riot of colour. Here are a few captures.

There are over 300 varieties of tulips on display at the festival including several rare varieties.
The festival is free of charge and there is no admission fees for the festival.
Morges is a beautiful town on Lake Geneva and is located about 15 km from Lausanne. It is about an hour from Geneva.
