Photoessay: Street Art Captures in Copenhagen

By Rashmi Gopal Rao

Castles, cathedrals, cycles, canals….Copenhagen is a city that truly offers a kaleidoscope of sights. From royal palaces to beautiful parks and interesting museums to eclectic neighbourhoods, Copenhagen sure springs a surprise at every corner. And if your someone who likes to take a walk along the streets and capture post cards of colour in the form of paintings, murals and even graffiti on the way, Copenhagen sure does not disappoint. So, here are some captures while chasing art in København as the city is called in Danish.

Vesterbro is a popular locality in the city known for its independent shops, cafes and vibrant vibe. The below intriguing mural of rats, hedgehogs and squirrels located on Gasværksvej 34 is by famous muralist ROA whose love for animals and rodents is well known.

Some parks too had amazing art work on the walls.

The roads leading to Christiania, the famous freetown of Copenhagen is a visual treat to say the least.

The one below which is a riot of colour was my favorite in the vicinity.
