Recently, Kristin Bauer van Straten who plays Pamela Swynford De Beaufort on True Blood mentioned that she participated in the NOH8 campaign started by fashion photographer Adam Bouska. NOH8 was started in response to the November 2008 decision which overturned gay marriage in California. What began as a small silent protest for marriage equality has gone global with over 13,000 people having been shot for the campaign both in the United States and around the world. But what makes NOH8 different than other photographic campaigns is that anyone can participate.
Kristin is the second True Blood star to participate in NOH8. Her fellow cast mate and vampire Mariana Klaveno (Lorena) took her own photo last September. You can see her photo and how she inspired me and Isis Noctourne to have ours done here. Kristin’s photo features a nod to the vampire she plays on TV having been shot wearing bloody duck tape.
