Phoebe Bridgers releases ‘7 O’Clock News/ Silent Night’ featuring Fiona Apple & Matt Berninger

It’s now tradition for Phoebe Bridgers to release a Christmas song and this year she’s teamed up with Fiona Apple to offer her take on the traditional ‘Silent Night’. Phoebe and Fiona provide sublime joint vocals while Matt Berninger from The National reads a selection of devastating news stories that sum up the state of the US and the issues societies, especially women of lower income, all across the nation are facing. The song acts as a stark warning about the state of the world – and fits it all in within two minutes. Regarding the track, Phoebe says: ‘Happy Holidays to everyone whose family has been literally or figuratively torn apart by Donald Trump. And to my racist, xenophobic, misogynistic, hypocritical family members, fuck you. Thanks Fiona, Matt, Simon, and Garfunkel.’

100% of the profits from this recording will be donated to Planned Parenthood, as inspired by the song’s “newscaster” Matt Berninger, co-founder of the 7-inches For Planned Parenthood project.
