Petite Joys

Petite joys

Ten tiny details that've made my week great.
There’s a lot to be said for appreciating the smaller, not necessarily finer details of the everyday mundane. After a whirlwind fortnight or so, right n o w I’m cosied up in my home office, whittling away with work and despite what my friends think (“It’s like a huge Monday after an epic holiday, right?”), I’m feeling content.

一. Fresh blooms. My blogging ladies sent me anemones and roses for my birthday and the roses are still hanging around, showing off their intricately petalled glory. In fact, right after I’m done and dusted with this post, I’m going to pop out and pick up a new bunch.
二. The first dip into a new Lush Sweetie Pie shower jelly. Easily one of my favorite scents in the Lush portfolio!
三. Old familiarity. Slowly but surely I’m becoming reacquainted with my hometown. I’ve never been a huge fan of this place but there’s a nice, quixotic feeling of knowing that things will be almost the same whenever I return. I particularly adore spending time at the lake and going for quiet walks in neighbouring villages and town.
四. Fresh sheets and a tidy sleep space.
五. Time. Time spent with my family, friends and blogging family has been the best. From doorstep hangouts with my cousins (just like very, very old times) to supporting the blogging clan in London to quiet coffee afternoons and second-hand bookshop wanders with my oldest friends, I’ve never felt more content and supported. It’s pretty damn good.
六. Baking Creme Egg brownies… and eating the ingredients as I go.
七. The prospect of my best friend’s wedding - this weekend!!
八. A golden sunrise. Just when I arrived home to England, I couldn’t shake the feeling of things being temporary. It felt like a holiday so I was desperate to soak up every minute of every day, just like, I suppose, you should. Every morning I’d faithfully wake up, make a little tea and sit on my windowsill (I don’t fit on there nearly as easily as I used to when I was younger and would star-gaze!), and watch the sun rise, melting colours glowing across the horizon.
九. Homemade Chinese soup, the real reason behind my skin.
十. Snow flurries. We’ve had little sprinklings and dustings of snow in Hertfordshire! Once over the weekend and another yesterday morning. I find the first snowfall of the year really calming and romantic in a sense. Spent mine with Bertle and Eric.
What are some of your petite joys?
