We're no strangers to a Flemish Style Red Ale. With their big bold flavors that are more wine than beer, our experience is that you either love them or hate them. If your idea of beer is a Lager, then we can understand your apprehension in giving one of these beers a try. Our advice, have one with a fat, juicy burger or perhaps a big bowl of beef stew and you'll instantly appreciate how well a beer like this cuts through the richness and quenches your thirst.
The fine folks at Perrin Brewing have brewed up such a beer. They call it Roeselare. Here's what they have to say about it:
Roeselare (8% ABV) is a Flemish Style Red Ale brewed using red malt and wild yeast, and aged for a minimum of 18 months in oak barrels. The result is an elegant and deeply complex sour beer that only makes an appearance every other year. Roeselare is characterized by strong, wine-like fruit aromas and flavors.Senior Marketing Manager Lindsey VanDenBoom said, "When I started working at Perrin five years ago, I just missed the sold-out release of Roeselare, and I kept hearing rumors about how amazing it was. When it was re-released and I finally got to try it, I immediately understood what all the fuss was about. With its big, balanced flavors, it's hands-down my favorite beer."Rodenbach Grand Cru and Duchesse de Bourgogne are our benchmarks when it comes to this beer style.
