A mother has been hailed as the ultimate personal dating coach after she brutally insulted a man who sent her daughter a "demeaning" voice comment on a dating app. Amy Acea was having dinner with her mother Sarah Acea at Pizza Express when she showed her a "vulgar" message she had received from a man on Hinge days earlier.
The shocking voice note included a review from the man's friend, who mocked the 22-year-old's profile and laughed it off as "the same sh*t" he's already seen online. He then declares that she has a "great pair of tits" before making other mean jokes of a sexual nature.
While the 'insensitive' fashion marketer tried to laugh it off, her mother had other ideas and decided he should make the call - and she didn't hold back. The single shared a clip of her mother's 'iconic' reaction via TikTok.
In the clip, Sarah is heard saying, "I really question your level of intelligence and your IQ if you think that comment is vaguely appropriate." The 59-year-old mother of four goes on to say: 'My daughter is definitely worth more than good, two minutes, oh sorry, two seconds [sex act]'.
Hundreds of users took to the comments to praise Sarah's response, with many labeling her a "legend." Amy admits that her mother is now her "personal dating coach" and that she likes that Sarah is so "involved in her love life."
After the video went viral, the Hinge user responded to the couple and admitted [need[s] be very careful about what he says to avoid ending up on TikTok. Amy, who lives in Hitchin, Hertfordshire, said: 'The voice message was shocking. It was really humiliating and humiliating.
"I'm a bit desensitized to it. I hear a lot about it on Hinge. But that was definitely one of the more originally vulgar ones. He said it at the top of his lungs. "I left it off for a few days because I don't did. I don't know how to respond. I was bitching about these guys, but normally I don't respond when I get a message like that.
"Then I was having dinner with my mom and I said, 'You won't believe what I have. This is what I'm dealing with." She was furious. I think I probably thought it was funnier than she did. She just came up with really funny lines and good takedowns. I said, 'Mom, you can handle this.'
"She'll attack your intellect before she attacks your manhood, which is hilarious. She'll know where to hit it, which is a powerful tool. I'm actually very proud." The fashion marketer revealed that she has been single for five months and initially downloaded the app to prove to her parents that she was over her ex.
Her 'concerned' mother is now very 'involved in her love life' and she is grateful for being able to share these issues. Amy said: "My mum is a lot more involved in my love life than most people are with their parents. Maybe because she's worried. She is my own personal dating coach.
"I try to explain to her that it's not that easy when you're in your 20s because this is what you have to deal with. I think our mothers come from a different generation where dating was completely different. It's evolved so much She just can't understand saying it to someone's face, let alone saying it to a stranger on an app.
'It's always a bit disheartening to get a comment like that. I'm not used to dating. Everyone says [dating apps] its like a game. I didn't believe it until I was single and going through with it. I find it a little intimidating, but the fact that I have my mom makes it a little funny. We can laugh about it and talk about it.
"The amount of attention the video got just shows that it resonated with a lot of people, a lot of women my age who are going through the same thing."
The daughter admitted she has lost hope on dating apps and urges people to know [their] worth' when faced with similar experiences. Amy said: "I would definitely prefer to meet someone in person. It's sad. I downloaded it to prove to my mom and dad that I was saying goodbye to my ex.
"As far as actually using it, I don't think it's up to me. Don't take it too seriously, but know your worth. If it's the wrong kind of attention, stay on your path and the right things will come to you And they certainly won't come to you in the form of vulgar voice notes on Hinge."
Her mother revealed that the man had to be 'called out' to show her daughter that women should not just accept this treatment and 'laugh it off' as she has done in the past. Sarah said: "The choice of language was so derogatory and really made my heart sink. It was horrible for my daughter to receive.
"My daughter is a very smart, intelligent girl and she doesn't deserve to be spoken to in that way. When she played it for me, my jaw hit the floor. We had a lovely evening. I was a little shocked .
"I was sitting there looking at my daughter and she was laughing. She knew it was inappropriate. Women do this. Something inappropriate happens that puts you in an awkward position and they laugh it off. My younger self did just that.
"I really thought he should be called out. It just seemed natural to do that. But I hope it wasn't too inappropriate. I raised my girls to be articulate and to stand up for themselves. But there's almost an acceptance among young women that they almost expect to get."
The 'protective' mother admitted she believes the 'inappropriate' tone of voice refers to 'misplaced misogyny' within society, causing her to fear for her daughter. Sarah said: "I suppose because I'm a mum I'm very protective of my girls. I wonder if he would have said it to her face.
"Social media and hiding behind the mobile phone platform, maybe he felt a little anonymous and could say it a little better. His motivation was to go straight into that with the male ideal of being strong and emotionless and expressing his sexuality straight away. I think that is really misplaced.
"While he may find it funny, it is completely inappropriate. I'm sure his mother would be very shocked by it. I'm sure the gentleman underneath, when you strip it all away, is a kind, thoughtful and sensitive young man.
"I think young men are going the wrong way in society. I think there's a lot of misogynistic misogyny. I think society has done men a disservice too. I don't think people are doing anything about the misogynistic attitudes that exist in have permeated our society." ."
The 58-year-old admitted she considers modern dating a "minefield" and was unaware of the treatment her daughter received until she looked at her Hinge profile. Sarah said: "I didn't quite realize it. I look at my girls and I wouldn't want to be a young woman in my twenties right now and I think that's really sad. It seems to be the way people meet now.
"I'm in my 50s and when I was young life seemed much easier. You didn't have social media to navigate dating. It's like a minefield for me. I don't know how my girls deal with that. "
