The origin of the name
The name peony it comes from Greek and dates back to ancient Greece. The protagonist is a disciple of Asclepius, Greek god of medicine and healing, named Peone (Paeon). It is said that Paeon managed to save Pluto from a serious injury inflicted on him by Hercules. This episode, once it comes to light, unleashes the anger and jealousy of Asclepius who wants to punish the student. But Zeus decides to save it by transforming it into a beautiful flower, the peony.
Flowering
Of unquestionable beauty and aromatic fragrance, peony is among the most anticipated flowers of the year. Seeing it blossom is a sight at every stage of flowering. When the peony is in bud it will take at least 4 or 5 days before opening. The moment the petals begin to open, it means that in 48-72 hours the flower will bloom and in 1 or 2 days it will show itself in all its splendor.

The red ones instead take on an erotic meaning, represent the sexual understanding and are a clear symbol of love.
