We’ve been road-testing – or perhaps
pavement-testing would be more accurate – a few pedometers over the first few
days of January2014 on our London Walks. And our London Walkers have been
joining in…
Last Sunday on the Hampstead walk, two
London Walkers – both from the United States – swore by the Fit Bit.
Small and discreet, it’s worn on the wrist
and measures steps, heart-rate and calories. Some models even chart sleep
patterns as part of charting an overall health picture.
It alerts the wearer when targets have been
met – presumably with a buzz or vibration because one of our Walkers says she
always announces her target alert with the words “There’s a party on my wrist!”
At the end of the walk, one of the walkers informed me: "I've burned off my breakfast."
The Fit Bit website is HERE.
A
London Walk costs £9 – £7 concession. To join a London Walk, simply meet your
guide at the designated tube station at the appointed time. Details of all
London Walks can be found at www.walks.com.
