Tragically PC David Rathband, who was shot and blinded by gunman Raoul Moat, has been found dead at his home in Blyth.
Police were called to his home at around seven o’clock last night after concerns were raised for his welfare and PC Rathband was subsequently found deceased inside. The exact circumstances of his death are not yet known.
My thoughts are with his family, friends and colleagues at this difficult time.
