Passion to Pursue-Prophesy of Love #2- by Kelsey Browning  ABOUT THE BOOK: What if a pair of cowboy boots could foretell true love?
For years, Texas girl Greer Maddox waited to inherit her legacy as the next prophecy boot maker. But that day never came. Now, instead of living out her rightful destiny, she's lost, restlessly jumping from one art project to the next.
Until the day leather tooler Alejandro Villanueva strolls into town looking like ten kinds of sexy trouble.
After surviving his dark and dangerous past, all Alex wants is a quiet future. Alone, where his former life and mistakes can't hurt anyone else. Even casually screwing around with a girl next door like Greer--whose dulce de leche voice and curvy body make him sweat--is a bad idea. But when she gets involved in his attempts to win the Prophecy Boot Company's tooling contract, waving adios is the last thing on his mind.
Their attraction flares hot and undeniable. He wants her, and even knowing he shouldn't have her can't stop him from indulging in the temptation she offers. But when his past comes calling, he is forced to choose between hiding from his sins, or saving the woman he loves.
Warning: The Prophecy of Love series features sizzling sex, hot Texas heroes, hard-headed heroines, and custom cowboy boots.

MY REVIEW:
A Passion to Pursue (Prophecy of Love, #2)A Passion to Pursue by Kelsey Browning
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
A Passion to Pursue by Kelsey Browning is a 2016 Kicksass Creations publication. I was provided a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Woot! Wow, what a great story! I have never read a book by this author I didn’t like, so I was confident this one would be no different. But, I wasn't expecting it to be THIS good!
The book started off on an upbeat swing, with Greer and Alex exchanging some supercharged electrical currents immediately.
Alex, held my rapt attention right from the start. There is something about a hero who is dark, mysterious, and maybe even a little dangerous that gets my blood pumping, and Alex exudes all those traits, along with sex appeal that seeps from the pores of his inked skin.

It was no wonder poor Greer was so smitten, which leads me to our troubled heroine, Greer, who is maybe harboring just a tiny bit of jealously towards Delaney because she is now the official boot maker in Prophesy. But, the ever optimistic Greer has been sure she has a promising future in the art realm in one form or another, and is SO excited to finally be handed her very own pair of handmade boots. She eagerly slips her feet into the boots, expecting some kind of instant epiphany, and is very disappointed that her restlessness will apparently continue on.

So, why not enjoy a little fun with Alex while he is in town, and maybe try to convince him to stay around for a while? After all, her one true love is obviously not around at the moment, and she needs him to help her with some new ideas she has to bring in more revenue for Prophesy. But, what if Alex is her one true love? He doesn’t plan on sticking around this odd little town that’s for sure, and he doesn’t believe in the Prophesy boots legacy or magic either. Not to mention, he needs to get in touch with his mother, and is harboring some deep dark secrets, and could be in big time trouble.
So…. what will happen if Greer’s one chance at true love rolls out of town forever?

While the story got off to a sizzling start, the flame flickered a few times, before the story settled down a little and found its rhythm. For me, I think it was because Greer was just a wee bit too hyper, which was, at least in part, due to her attempting to force things a little, expecting her magic boots to provide her with all of life’s burning questions right away. When they didn’t, she lost her momentum and the chemistry between Greer and Alex simmered on a slow burn for a time.
But, never fear, things evened out in no time with the trademark Browning one liners, the secondary characters carrying their weight perfectly, and of course the heat between Greer and Alex heating up to a fever pitch.
But, my favorite thing about this story was the edge it had to it, tackling some tough issues I seldom see in contemporary romance novels. I loved this message, and I think it’s a very important one. Alex is one strong guy, flawed, sure, but wow, he does command my respect. It was not easy to do what he did, and it cost him plenty to do the right thing. Being a man, he tried to do it all alone, and of course, we know that seldom works, especially in his type of situation. While I thought Prophesy was a cool place before, I’m really proud of them now. Way to come through guys!
Trust me, this was a really awesome, feel good story, that will have you laughing, and grabbing those tissues a time or two, but in a good way. So, maybe it’s true that good things do come to those who wait. Greer got her HEA.., All in good time, and with a little help from Prophesy and her special handmade magical boots.
