Parx Casino Bids

By Ceemac126 @PGCBlogging

Traycee Wilkins of NBC4 says that meetings are coming soon on the building of another casino in Ft. Washington.  We all know that MGM Resorts International and Penn National Gaming are bidding for a casino in the National Harbor area but you might not know about the third contender out of Philadelphia.  Greenwood Gaming and Entertainment aka Parx Casino has preemptively purchases a 22-acre parcel of land in Fort Washington, forcing the renting residents to have to move as soon as possible.  This land is located in a secluded patch on the corner of Indian Head Highway and Old Foote Road.  Darryl Kelley is a former Maryland delegate and the lawyer representing Parx Casino in the sale of this land. Is it just me or does that seem kind of sleezey representing the casino that evicted your fellow Prince Georgians?  Another tidbit about Parx Casino, they have partnered with Cordish Companies, owners of Anne Arundel’s Maryland Live! to form Stadium Casino LLC to develop a 200,000-square-foot casino in South Philadelphia.  They have the largest grossing casino in Philadelphia and the proposed sight in Fort Washington is even larger than the MGM proposed sight near National Harbor.

Donald Fry of the Video Lottery Facility Location Commission has some explaining to do and some meetings to hold.

From NBC4, “A Pennsylvania company submitted an $800 million proposal to place a gambling resort in the heart of a community in Fort Washington, Md., and although a decision is months away, some people are already being moved.  The owner of the land on which the residents of a secluded community live is selling the property to Parx Casino, and about a dozen renters were told to vacate the property at Old Fort Road and Indian Head Highway by the end of the month.”

Check the story.  It’ll make you sad.
