DC Editor Adam writes…
At the start of January, I set out on a quest to find the best step counting app. My initial aim was to find a replacement for the iSteps app that is no longer being updated and is now incompatible with my phone.
The iSteps app was a simple-to-read and easy-to-use app and I was looking to replace like with like - i.e. something straightforward with few frills.
So far I've tested the really very good Stepz app – catch up with the review HERE.
I followed it up with the slightly "Meh" and cumbersomely named Steps – Step Counter, Pedometer, Activity Tracker. Read review HERE.

Now on Day 3 I think I may have found the perfect basic walk app - from the name down, everything about it is simplicity itself. Ladies and gentlemen, roll-up for… Steps.

There is an option to count calories, too, and this can be unlocked for £1.99 – but if you merely want a step counter as a rough guide to help with exercise goals, this app does everything you need without the calorie function.
Simplicity itself. Five stars.
I'll be continuing my investigations throughout January. In the meantime, if you are using a step counting app or pedometer that you'd like to recommend, drop me a line at the usual address.
A London Walk costs £10 – £8 concession. To join a London Walk, simply meet your guide at the designated tube station at the appointed time. Details of all London Walks can be found at www.walks.com.
