In a deal worked out recently with Warner Bros, regarding the distribution around Chris Nolan’s next film Interstellar, Paramount acquired temporary franchise rights to South Park and Friday the 13th. In order for them to maintain the rights, they need to make and release a film in each franchise within the next 5 years, or the rights revert back to Warner Bros. Obviously, Paramount is planning to do that, otherwise they wouldn’t have gone after these franchises.
