#Parable by @1JessWalter

By Pamelascott

That's not cool! #1 New York Times bestselling author Jess Walter finds his beloved Millie sleeping with his neighbour. On his porch!

In this funny remembrance of an unusual triangle, Jess learns to accept what's best for the one animal he has ever loved. After all, he gave his heart to the Australian shepherd mix he'd rescued. What alternative has he other than to give the restless girl her freedom? But in doing so, Jess discovers more about himself, the nature of affection and attachment, the inevitability of loss, and how much Millie means to so many.

Jess Walter's Parable is part of The One, a collection of seven singularly true love stories of friendship, companionship, marriage, and moving on. Each piece can be read or listened to in a single sitting, with or without company.

I caught an early flight home and arrived in Spokane three hours before I was expected. PARABLE

(Amazon Original Stories, 30 July 2019, 27 pages, e-book, borrowed from @AmazonKindle #PrimeReading)

I haven't read any full length fiction by the author but have read his contribution to another Amazon Original Stories collection. I thoroughly enjoyed this. I'm a dog person and completely related to the author talking about loving Millie and the stress felt at first by the family because it took her so long to settle with them. I loved the fact Millie is treated like a human, another neighbour and actually greeted in the street by neighbours. Dogs can be very loyal and as a kid I had a dog that would have died for me, but like Millie they can be independent as well. Parable is charming and also sad at times.
