Rise and Shine Paleo Smoothie

Continuing with the Cavemandietblog.com 30 days of paleo breakfast series, here’s a delicious paleo smoothie that is a great way to kick off your day on the run. Just in case you missed it, here is the Paleo Nutty Breakfast Bars recipe from day 1 of the series

Some people love nothing better than a big, hearty meal to start the day, while others prefer a breakfast bar or even some kind of liquid breakfast. If you fall into the latter camp, why not consider making a smoothie for breakfast? We are using avocado, banana and spinach, so this is nutrient-packed, and you can add as much water as you like, depending how thick you want it. This recipe makes enough for 2 people.

Add anything else you want to this recipe, such as berries or other kinds of fruit. You can swap the spinach for raw kale or cabbage if you prefer, or even omit it and have something else in there. Anything goes when making smoothie recipes, and you are sure to come up with all kinds of delicious concoctions by yourself.

This is the type of breakfast you can make in under 5 minutes. Simply peel the banana and avocado and discard the pit from the avocado, then put everything into the blender and press the button. You will need to add a splash of water to get it thin enough to drink, but you can use fruit or vegetable juice instead if you prefer.

Although this can be prepared ahead of time and then just given a shake before you drink it, it is best served as soon as it is made, although to save time in the morning you could peel and chop the banana and avocado the evening before.

What You Need:

1 pitted avocado
1 banana
1/3 cup spinach leaves
1/4 to 1/2 cup water

How to Make It:

Put everything in the blender, and blend until well mixed. Now divide the smoothie between 2 serving glasses. You can add some ice to the glasses first first if you like.
