Posted on the 21 January 2022 by Geetikamalik

Pakistani and Afghanistan Taliban security forces still exchanged fires across the Durand line. The latest incidents occur in Hamlet such as Ganjagaal, Sudao and Kunar – in the Bajaur area – on Friday. Reports on local media and video tweeted by journalists showed both sides of shooting.

According to several reports, the shooting continued for 30 minutes on Friday afternoon.

The shooting began after the sniper, reportedly belonging to the Taliban, shot dead two sir soldiers where the border fence was installed. Pakistani side opened fire on border hamlets in response, encouraging retaliation from Afghanistan.

Heavy clashes occurred in the area, with a number of shells and artillery that hit the villagers, the local report further said.

Meanwhile, Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) on Saturday claimed responsibility for the December 19 attack on the Federal Minister Shibli Faraz at Darra Adam Khel where the driver and bodyguard were injured.

The latest border claims came in the middle of the Taliban and Pakistani claims that they had completed a recent line of the border fence by agreeing that the next work on the project that caused a tense situation would be carried out through consensus.

A senior official, who spoke with a group of journalists on Friday, said it was decided at the senior level that the problem related to the future fence would be handled through a joint agreement.

However, the official was not appropriate to determine the level of talks between Pakistan and the Government de facto Afghanistan was held after the incident on Wednesday where Taliban fighters disrupted the border fence and took the barbed wire rolls, the Dawn newspaper reported.

Pakistan has spurred a 2600 kilometer border with Afghanistan since 2017 to end terrorist infiltration and smuggling despite a very intense opposition from neighboring countries, the report said.

In addition to fence erections, this project also includes the construction of the border and fortresses, and increasing the new wing of the border corps, paramilitary strength that maintains the border.

The official said 90 percent of the fence was finished.

The fence has been a controversial problem in the Pakistan-Afghan bond because Afghanistan has denied the demarcation of borders carried out during the colonial period.

While Pashtun Afghanistan defines their national borders based on Durand lines, Pakistan opposes this demarcation.

The difference in border status has been so intense they have in the past resulting in some fatal clashes between the two state troops.
