Painting Abstract Flowers

By Abstractartbylt @artbylt

I continued work today painting the abstract flowers I had started on a tall thin canvas.  I began by making the petals fuller, adding some darker yellow and orange to the bright yellow flowers.  I changed the color of the center bud on the red flowers from dark red to yellow.

At some point I realized the red and yellow flowers contrasted too much, so I used a vivid red orange to cover over most of the red petals.  I added more white and yellow highlights to all the flowers.  I also drew lines to accent the edges of the petals.

I wasn't completely happy with the background, so I added small orange berry-like shapes in between the green stems and leaves.

I like it better now.  What do you think?
